Hearsay first appeared in 1988 running on the Acorn Arthur OS and published by Beebug. It was completely rewritten for RISC OS in 1991.

That was the era of dial up modems - the typical home user in 1988 had a v23
modem, 1200 baud from the host and 75 back. For home users there were bulletin board systems based on ANSI terminals, and the British Telecom/Post Office Viewdata/Prestel/Micronet system.

There were terminal users on mainframes for example in Universities and Hearsay included good terminal emulations for them.

There is no market for this software now, this free version is released in the hope that it will be useful for someone.

It is set up to use telnet out of the box. Try using the ANSI terminal to

The HsayExtras folder contains various things...

Tek is a RISC OS font for the Tektronix terminals.

There is a very nice Hearsay manual that explains everything. As is the nature of the past, no one has an electronic version of it. I have a small number of copies which I will sell. If anyone fancies copying the manual with their digital camera let me know.
