The data file in this folder is a French spellcheck dictionary for Ovation Pro of approx 63 000 spellings. It uses David Pilling's SpellX applet, in a slightly extended form, and so can only be used effectively by versions >=2.54 of Ovation Pro. The compiled dictionary is approx 167K, and is freeware. The dictionary and the SpellFR applet can be installed by being run. To use the dictionary for spellchecking, load the dictionary from the Misc>Spellcheck>Dictionary... menu option, clicking first on French in the dictionary list and then on the Load button. The spelling of a French text can then be checked in the usual way. I intend to continue extending the dictionary, but growth is going to be slower in future, partly because it already deals with 95%+ of common words. It has been compiled largely by running some hundreds of shortish texts through the Ovation Pro spellchecker, and working on the results. This approach means that the dictionary consists mainly of common words (with notable exceptions, no doubt - if you find errors, please feel free to contact me at puffin@cix.co.uk).
