Many of the elements in one estimate are the same in all of them, so I've been doing Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V Well that bit works, but in the original, all the headers of each element are in Bold, but when pasted, they are just plain text. When copied from one part of a document to another place in the same document shouldn't they be pasted the same? Bit of a PITA having to continually hilight and change things after each pasting. This is a one off document so I've just been hilighting and applying the "B" tool, however just for the purist among you, before posting this. I created a Header style that had the text in Bold, but it didn't make any difference, copy and paste that header with its bold style, and upon pasting it's back as plain text. Bhaaaa! I have just looked at the change logs and the only thing that needs to be undone is the change in 2.77f to always default to plain text when copying to the clipboard. That decision cripples OP's use of the global clipboard while not offering any significant benefits. Apart from that you have made some useful corrections to clipboard handling since the 2006 version of 2.77. Take is as a given that I'm talking through the hole in my... I assume it must be a just RISC OS problem then, as the clipboard in Win OvPro seems to work perfectly okay. Is it that the RO implimentation of the global clipboard is flawed in that OvPro can't work with it, or the other way around? I do remember some time back with the early versions of the Clipboardholder module that a lot of Copy/paste things became broken. My publication has reached the light of day and came out impeccably. In summary I produced PDFs from OPW via Distiller and these were originally in the RGB colour space. DP's advice re the text was to enable the direct PostScript option and define all colours in CMYK space. I dealt with my 1bbp sprites by importing them into !Artworks and exporting as CMYK. The colour JPEGs were left as RGB and came out well. Interestingly there were several greyscale JPEGs which were also RGB but came through unscathed and printed fine. Many thanks for all the helpful suggestions. -- William Lack --------------------- william.lack@bt internet.com County Series: http://home.clara.net/williamlack/index.htm To unsubscribe or subscribe goto: http://www.freelists.org/list/davidpilling From davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org Fri Jul 31 12:44:28 2009 Received: from pop3.demon.co.uk by pilling.demon.co.uk with POP3 id <1MWdVn-1iSGPo-07-Fc0.pilling@pop3.demon.co.uk> for ; Fri, 31 Jul 2009 12:44:28 +0100 Return-Path: Received: from punt3.mail.demon.net by mailstore for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk id 1MWdVn-1iSGPo-07-Fc0; Thu, 30 Jul 2009 21:50:07 +0000 Received: from [194.217.242.71] (lhlo=anchor-hub.mail.demon.net) by punt3.mail.demon.net with lmtp id 1MWdVn-1iSGPo-07 for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk; Thu, 30 Jul 2009 21:50:07 +0000 Received: from [206.53.239.180] (helo=turing.freelists.org) by anchor-hub.mail.demon.net with esmtp id 1MWdVm-0003K1-Ud for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk; Thu, 30 Jul 2009 21:50:07 +0000 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 2548FC9A046; Thu, 30 Jul 2009 17:50:06 -0400 (EDT) X-Virus-Scanned: Debian amavisd-new at localhost.localdomain Received: from turing.freelists.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (turing.freelists.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id MP4VCbNmWBRv; Thu, 30 Jul 2009 17:50:06 -0400 (EDT) Received: from turing.freelists.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id CD773C9A050; Thu, 30 Jul 2009 17:50:05 -0400 (EDT) Received: with ECARTIS (v1.0.0; list davidpilling); Thu, 30 Jul 2009 17:49:33 -0400 (EDT) X-Original-To: davidpilling@freelists.org Delivered-To: davidpilling@freelists.org Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 0C22CC9A046 for ; Thu, 30 Jul 2009 17:49:33 -0400 (EDT) X-Virus-Scanned: Debian amavisd-new at localhost.localdomain Received: from turing.freelists.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (turing.freelists.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id EGod5AvQ0rCT for ; Thu, 30 Jul 2009 17:49:32 -0400 (EDT) Received: from lon1-post-2.mail.demon.net (lon1-post-2.mail.demon.net [195.173.77.149]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id C8063C9A03A for ; Thu, 30 Jul 2009 17:49:32 -0400 (EDT) Received: from pilling.demon.co.uk ([62.49.20.172]) by lon1-post-2.mail.demon.net with esmtp (Exim 4.69) id 1MWdVD-0003XB-b4 for davidpilling@freelists.org; Thu, 30 Jul 2009 21:49:31 +0000 Message-ID: Date: Thu, 30 Jul 2009 22:47:56 +0100 To: davidpilling@freelists.org From: David Pilling Subject: [softwarelist] Re: Copy 'n paste References: <50821b88cfdave@triffid.co.uk> <50824bb934dave@triffid.co.uk> <853c848250.martin@bach.planiverse.com> In-Reply-To: <853c848250.martin@bach.planiverse.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain;charset=us-ascii;format=flowed User-Agent: Turnpike/6.02-S () X-archive-position: 1755 X-ecartis-version: Ecartis v1.0.0 Sender: davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org Errors-to: davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org X-original-sender: flist@pilling.demon.co.uk Precedence: normal Reply-to: davidpilling@freelists.org List-help: List-unsubscribe: List-software: Ecartis version 1.0.0 List-Id: davidpilling X-List-ID: davidpilling List-subscribe: List-owner: List-post: List-archive: X-list: davidpilling X-CNFS-Analysis: v=1.0 c=1 a=cwSeiBLpj2MA:10 a=lYvq0DDjAAAA:8 a=nqL81JpBAAAA:8 a=U7UbAiMzAAAA:8 a=dqhQn4rJAAAA:8 a=D_VmOLqjAAAA:8 a=qInVw--bF8Mu4uUVu3oA:9 a=yV0AB7NQc50KNKSknq0A:7 a=dAYvzpp9_bFLtPLCuGak0hv-XNgA:4 a=fl4ZfBcLCrEA:10 a=ZUQr0j0rh1LQQl4i:21 a=cFFrcqh66WAN3EMS:21 In message <853c848250.martin@bach.planiverse.com>, Martin Wuerthner writes >I have just looked at the change logs and the only thing that needs to >be undone is the change in 2.77f to always default to plain text when >copying to the clipboard. There is no problem with the RO clipboard as such. Other programs cope fine, e.g., EasiWriter, which always uses the global clipboard. The problem is that OP gets in its own way due the way it interacts with the clipboard. That sounds like an interesting incompatibility between Beagle and RISC OS. Not that I would understand the answer, but are you able to publicise what the problem was? If it was an obscure feature of SparkFS, I suppose we can hope that it is obscure enough that it does not occur on other applications and thus not something to titivate us with. -- Tim Powys-Lybbe tim@powys.org for a miscellany of bygones: http://powys.org/ To unsubscribe or subscribe goto: http://www.freelists.org/list/davidpilling From davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org Fri Aug 14 11:46:57 2009 Received: from pop3.demon.co.uk by pilling.demon.co.uk with POP3 id <1MbuDM-4Vq000-04-Cq3.pilling@pop3.demon.co.uk> for ; Fri, 14 Aug 2009 11:46:57 +0100 Return-Path: Received: from punt3.mail.demon.net by mailstore for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk id 1MbuDM-4Vq000-04-Cq3; Fri, 14 Aug 2009 10:40:52 +0000 Received: from [194.217.242.245] (lhlo=lon1-hub.mail.demon.net) by punt3.mail.demon.net with lmtp id 1MbuDM-4Vq000-04 for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk; Fri, 14 Aug 2009 10:40:52 +0000 Received: from [206.53.239.180] (helo=turing.freelists.org) by lon1-hub.mail.demon.net with esmtp id 1MbuDK-00052i-TB for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk; Fri, 14 Aug 2009 10:40:52 +0000 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 4F628CA8A1A; Fri, 14 Aug 2009 06:40:49 -0400 (EDT) X-Virus-Scanned: Debian amavisd-new at localhost.localdomain Received: from turing.freelists.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (turing.freelists.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id GYJ3rI+Om1BI; Fri, 14 Aug 2009 06:40:49 -0400 (EDT) Received: from turing.freelists.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 7323CCA8A17; Fri, 14 Aug 2009 06:40:35 -0400 (EDT) Received: with ECARTIS (v1.0.0; list davidpilling); Fri, 14 Aug 2009 06:40:35 -0400 (EDT) X-Original-To: davidpilling@freelists.org Delivered-To: davidpilling@freelists.org Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 43519CA89DC for ; Fri, 14 Aug 2009 06:40:35 -0400 (EDT) X-Virus-Scanned: Debian amavisd-new at localhost.localdomain Received: from turing.freelists.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (turing.freelists.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id lk5dnwMHVB+N for ; Fri, 14 Aug 2009 06:40:35 -0400 (EDT) Received: from lon1-post-1.mail.demon.net (lon1-post-1.mail.demon.net [195.173.77.148]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 064F8CA8A09 for ; Fri, 14 Aug 2009 06:40:34 -0400 (EDT) Received: from pilling.demon.co.uk ([62.49.20.172]) by lon1-post-1.mail.demon.net with esmtp (Exim 4.69) id 1MbuD3-0001qT-YL for davidpilling@freelists.org; Fri, 14 Aug 2009 10:40:33 +0000 Message-ID: Date: Fri, 14 Aug 2009 11:39:30 +0100 To: davidpilling@freelists.org From: David Pilling Subject: [softwarelist] Re: The Beagle Has Landed References: <+1IlkUBVRVgKFwm+@pilling.demon.co.uk> In-Reply-To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain;charset=us-ascii;format=flowed User-Agent: Turnpike/6.02-S () X-archive-position: 1762 X-ecartis-version: Ecartis v1.0.0 Sender: davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org Errors-to: davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org X-original-sender: flist@pilling.demon.co.uk Precedence: normal Reply-to: davidpilling@freelists.org List-help: List-unsubscribe: List-software: Ecartis version 1.0.0 List-Id: davidpilling X-List-ID: davidpilling List-subscribe: List-owner: List-post: List-archive: X-list: davidpilling X-CNFS-Analysis: v=1.0 c=1 a=AoN38ZFs-LgA:10 a=cwSeiBLpj2MA:10 a=v6Aic-fSAAAA:8 a=U7UbAiMzAAAA:8 a=dqhQn4rJAAAA:8 a=D_VmOLqjAAAA:8 a=jGeFUXvhT5MHBdTQJQUA:9 a=cbZdnuP8jWXa2ok0_84A:7 a=5PmrWaWt2qRIPH7kuLkfO9n2nn8A:4 a=wl_QvbsadU8A:10 a=LumIUoVEaG27aNQW:21 a=_VctsLf0PSWKtgaz:21 In message , Tim Powys-Lybbe writes >OS. A word on the ARM chip is 32 bits or 4 bytes. Usually one loads words from a 4th. byte boundary i.e. address 0, 4, 8, etc. The question is what happens if one loads a word from another address like 1,2 or 3. Different ARM chips have different behaviours. I have never gone in for such things, mostly because I was never really sure what the results would be. The Zip module in Spark has to contend with loading words from arbitrary byte addresses so when it went wrong it seemed that the above would be the explanation. However the code avoids word access on non-word addresses. Looking at archives produced on the beagle board it seemed that bytes were being scrambled in an area where compiled code was handling "shorts" i.e. 16 bit words. A document on the RISC OS Open site shows different compiler flags should be used for different ARM chips, using: -memaccess -L22-S22-L41 and recompiling the module, produced a version that worked. The bottom line is that if you have a new ARM based computer and RISC OS running on it, then in general you're going to need all your software recompiling to run on it. -- David Pilling email: david@pilling.demon.co.uk web: http://www.davidpilling.net post: David Pilling P.O. Reason: While I seldom use 36pt (and could easily type that in when needed) I often need 16pt and would prefer that on the list. -- /\ _ \ |==============| / / / \__\ |===================| | Rodger Davis | /_/ / / / \ | rod@argonet.co.uk | |==============| / \_/\_/ /___) |===================| To unsubscribe or subscribe goto: http://www.freelists.org/list/davidpilling From davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org Fri Aug 28 21:57:23 2009 Received: from pop3.demon.co.uk by pilling.demon.co.uk with POP3 id <1MgxC5-2lWGPo-02-FGQ.pilling@pop3.demon.co.uk> for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 21:57:23 +0100 Return-Path: Received: from punt3.mail.demon.net by mailstore for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk id 1MgxC5-2lWGPo-02-FGQ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 08:52:25 +0000 Received: from [194.217.242.106] (lhlo=anchor-hub.mail.demon.net) by punt3.mail.demon.net with lmtp id 1MgxC5-2lWGPo-02 for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 08:52:25 +0000 Received: from [206.53.239.180] (helo=turing.freelists.org) by anchor-hub.mail.demon.net with esmtp id 1MgxC2-0004gV-0M for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 08:52:25 +0000 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 5431CCA95A3; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 04:52:20 -0400 (EDT) X-Virus-Scanned: Debian amavisd-new at localhost.localdomain Received: from turing.freelists.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (turing.freelists.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id IxYRgXAKEjvQ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 04:52:20 -0400 (EDT) Received: from turing.freelists.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id B3EC4CA9482; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 04:52:06 -0400 (EDT) Received: with ECARTIS (v1.0.0; list davidpilling); Fri, 28 Aug 2009 04:52:06 -0400 (EDT) X-Original-To: davidpilling@freelists.org Delivered-To: davidpilling@freelists.org Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 9155DCA94C1 for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 04:52:06 -0400 (EDT) X-Virus-Scanned: Debian amavisd-new at localhost.localdomain Received: from turing.freelists.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (turing.freelists.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id St7Q5Tvs+owD for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 04:52:06 -0400 (EDT) Received: from smtp11.dentaku.gol.com (smtp11.dentaku.gol.com [203.216.5.73]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 3E5D5CA9482 for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 04:52:05 -0400 (EDT) Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] helo=webmail.gol.com) by smtp11.dentaku.gol.com with smtp (Dentaku) id 1MgxBk-0005c4-IJ for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 17:52:04 +0900 Received: from 92.41.55.13 (auth. user plattir@pp.mail.gol.com) by webmail.gol.com with HTTP; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 08:52:04 +0000 To: "davidpilling@freelists.org" Subject: [softwarelist] Re: Font sizes in OvPro (was [softwarelist]) Date: Fri, 28 Aug 2009 08:52:04 +0000 X-Mailer: IlohaMail/0.8.14 (On: webmail.gol.com) Message-ID: In-Reply-To: <5091d186acrod@argonet.co.uk> From: "Ian Platt" Bounce-To: "Ian Platt" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" X-Virus-Scanned: ClamAV GOL (outbound) X-Abuse-Complaints: abuse@gol.com X-archive-position: 1766 X-ecartis-version: Ecartis v1.0.0 Sender: davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org Errors-to: davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org X-original-sender: plattir@gol.com Precedence: normal Reply-to: davidpilling@freelists.org List-help: List-unsubscribe: List-software: Ecartis version 1.0.0 List-Id: davidpilling X-List-ID: davidpilling List-subscribe: List-owner: List-post: List-archive: X-list: davidpilling X-CNFS-Analysis: v=1.0 c=1 a=PSChsr3CGCEA:10 a=cwSeiBLpj2MA:10 a=I2trMZZ3AAAA:8 a=D_VmOLqjAAAA:8 a=Po162ZUJ-shnx3AUrUAA:9 a=XVqgbpwVXYG2O02MfMgA:7 a=8BtPSowL4JQnE11hxD23rfz860IA:4 a=iamVuytRPj4A:10 a=g2LyUTCAFxoOaV7v:21 a=b3pYE14_07w6nm3C:21 Can't you just type in at the bottom the size you want? Under that "36pt" is a blank space into which you can type in any size you want. But a better way is to adapt your default document to include the size you want, in your case 16pt. Click on OvationPro on the iconbar, a default page will open. Create a new style named in this case 16pt. Now resave the default document (Menu>File>Save as default). You can even assign a special key for this style. -- Greetings, JohnvV To unsubscribe or subscribe goto: http://www.freelists.org/list/davidpilling From davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org Fri Aug 28 21:57:23 2009 Received: from pop3.demon.co.uk by pilling.demon.co.uk with POP3 id <1MgxbL-3bk000-05-ErA.pilling@pop3.demon.co.uk> for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 21:57:23 +0100 Return-Path: Received: from punt3.mail.demon.net by mailstore for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk id 1MgxbL-3bk000-05-ErA; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 09:18:31 +0000 Received: from [194.217.242.230] (lhlo=lon1-hub.mail.demon.net) by punt3.mail.demon.net with lmtp id 1MgxbL-3bk000-05 for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 09:18:31 +0000 Received: from [206.53.239.180] (helo=turing.freelists.org) by lon1-hub.mail.demon.net with esmtp id 1MgxbG-0000Kr-Tu for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 09:18:31 +0000 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 20E2BCAA19D; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 05:18:25 -0400 (EDT) X-Virus-Scanned: Debian amavisd-new at localhost.localdomain Received: from turing.freelists.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (turing.freelists.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id vG+vH8vIhSJr; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 05:18:24 -0400 (EDT) Received: from turing.freelists.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 67623CA98A8; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 05:18:11 -0400 (EDT) Received: with ECARTIS (v1.0.0; list davidpilling); Fri, 28 Aug 2009 05:18:11 -0400 (EDT) X-Original-To: davidpilling@freelists.org Delivered-To: davidpilling@freelists.org Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 40933CA98CE for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 05:18:11 -0400 (EDT) X-Virus-Scanned: Debian amavisd-new at localhost.localdomain Received: from turing.freelists.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (turing.freelists.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id SuUEMBUOBMmw for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 05:18:11 -0400 (EDT) Received: from smtp-out3.blueyonder.co.uk (smtp-out3.blueyonder.co.uk [195.188.213.6]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id F2F18CA98A8 for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 05:18:10 -0400 (EDT) Received: from [172.23.170.136] (helo=anti-virus01-07) by smtp-out3.blueyonder.co.uk with smtp (Exim 4.52) id 1Mgxaz-0000Ge-V8 for davidpilling@freelists.org; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 10:18:10 +0100 Received: from [77.103.43.79] (helo=Iyonix) by asmtp-out3.blueyonder.co.uk with esmtp (Exim 4.52) id 1Mgxaz-0005AJ-9O for davidpilling@freelists.org; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 10:18:09 +0100 MIME-Version: 1.0 From: John M Ward To: davidpilling@freelists.org Date: Fri, 28 Aug 2009 10:18:00 +0100 Subject: [softwarelist] Font sizes in OvPro Message-ID: <5091d43860john@acornusers.org> In-Reply-To: <5091d186acrod@argonet.co.uk> References: <5091d186acrod@argonet.co.uk> User-Agent: Pluto/3.03j (RISC-OS/5.11) POPstar/2.05 Content-Type: text/plain X-archive-position: 1768 X-ecartis-version: Ecartis v1.0.0 Sender: davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org Errors-to: davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org X-original-sender: john@acornusers.org Precedence: normal Reply-to: davidpilling@freelists.org List-help: List-unsubscribe: List-software: Ecartis version 1.0.0 List-Id: davidpilling X-List-ID: davidpilling List-subscribe: List-owner: List-post: List-archive: X-list: davidpilling X-CNFS-Analysis: v=1.0 c=1 a=cwSeiBLpj2MA:10 a=I2trMZZ3AAAA:8 a=5JhhAp52AAAA:8 a=D_VmOLqjAAAA:8 a=jaaa3HBW80ItT-gtBc0A:9 a=trXUHh20KEWHdH4bHDYA:7 a=H1BtG8RzdbS39SwhEJZseNWVK-AA:4 a=iamVuytRPj4A:10 a=xgni97tglItAjjJ1:21 a=BimdQqeucFcAoV35:21 In article <5091d186acrod@argonet.co.uk>, rod a wrote: > In OvnPro on RiscPC, which I use several times a day, I use the > font-size menu at the foot of the page on the right. > My question: is it possible to add more options than the seven offered > - or failing that can one alter the choices offered? Ah! I suspect that would require significant re-programming -- but await David Pilling's comments on this. > Reason: While I seldom use 36pt (and could easily type that in when > needed) I often need 16pt and would prefer that on the list. Two answers here: 1. If this is an occasional requirement, then it is easy enough to use the "enter own point size" option (as one might call it) at the bottom of that menu. Remember that it is necessary to press Enter to accept that value. 2. If this is a regular occurrence, it is probably most useful to set up a style (in a blank document) with an obvious name that contains just this point size and nothing else. If such a document is then saved as "default", that style will be available in all new documents. That is how I'd do it -- and indeed have done something similar myself. Thanks also to everyone who commented. One reason why typing in the point size is difficult is that often the mouse moves a bit, after one has typed, say, 16. One hits return and all selected text is then deleted! Easily solved with undo, of course, but irritating. -- /\ _ \ |==============| / / / \__\ |===================| | Rodger Davis | /_/ / / / \ | rod@argonet.co.uk | |==============| / \_/\_/ /___) |===================| To unsubscribe or subscribe goto: http://www.freelists.org/list/davidpilling From davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org Fri Aug 28 21:57:32 2009 Received: from pop3.demon.co.uk by pilling.demon.co.uk with POP3 id <1Mh6nM-2z7Vbs-06-EBf.pilling@pop3.demon.co.uk> for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 21:57:32 +0100 Return-Path: Received: from punt3.mail.demon.net by mailstore for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk id 1Mh6nM-2z7Vbs-06-EBf; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 19:07:32 +0000 Received: from [194.217.242.77] (lhlo=anchor-hub.mail.demon.net) by punt3.mail.demon.net with lmtp id 1Mh6nM-2z7Vbs-06 for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 19:07:32 +0000 Received: from [206.53.239.180] (helo=turing.freelists.org) by anchor-hub.mail.demon.net with esmtp id 1Mh6nJ-0000jG-G0 for flist@pilling.demon.co.uk; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 19:07:32 +0000 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 2543ACAA24E; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 15:07:28 -0400 (EDT) X-Virus-Scanned: Debian amavisd-new at localhost.localdomain Received: from turing.freelists.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (turing.freelists.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id LPo+JnG2IpiZ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 15:07:27 -0400 (EDT) Received: from turing.freelists.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 334EFCA8FB4; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 15:07:14 -0400 (EDT) Received: with ECARTIS (v1.0.0; list davidpilling); Fri, 28 Aug 2009 15:07:14 -0400 (EDT) X-Original-To: davidpilling@freelists.org Delivered-To: davidpilling@freelists.org Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 02F97CA8FE9 for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 15:07:14 -0400 (EDT) X-Virus-Scanned: Debian amavisd-new at localhost.localdomain Received: from turing.freelists.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (turing.freelists.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id oNEPqnX0uVTl for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 15:07:13 -0400 (EDT) Received: from smtp3.clear.net.nz (smtp3.clear.net.nz [203.97.33.64]) by turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id A786FCA8FB4 for ; Fri, 28 Aug 2009 15:07:13 -0400 (EDT) Received: from Iyonix (121-72-192-200.dsl.telstraclear.net [121.72.192.200]) by smtp3.clear.net.nz (CLEAR Net Mail) with ESMTP id <0KP300KGFP1J8T50@smtp3.clear.net.nz> for davidpilling@freelists.org; Sat, 29 Aug 2009 07:05:43 +1200 (NZST) Date: Sat, 29 Aug 2009 07:05:40 +1200 From: list Subject: [softwarelist] Re: [softwarelist] In-reply-to: <5091d6a168dave@triffid.co.uk> To: davidpilling@freelists.org Message-id: <50920a05b8list@clear.net.nz> MIME-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain References: <5091d186acrod@argonet.co.uk> <5091d6a168dave@triffid.co.uk> User-Agent: Pluto/3.04e (RISC-OS/5.14) POPstar/2.06-ds.4 X-archive-position: 1774 X-ecartis-version: Ecartis v1.0.0 Sender: davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org Errors-to: davidpilling-bounce@freelists.org X-original-sender: list@clear.net.nz Precedence: normal Reply-to: davidpilling@freelists.org List-help: List-unsubscribe: List-software: Ecartis version 1.0.0 List-Id: davidpilling X-List-ID: davidpilling List-subscribe: List-owner: List-post: List-archive: X-list: davidpilling X-CNFS-Analysis: v=1.0 c=1 a=T0fCGy4dsycA:10 a=cwSeiBLpj2MA:10 a=Rjyi1bWPAAAA:8 a=D_VmOLqjAAAA:8 a=FCzL4hpkoHnyelsCX60A:9 a=uPOekC-BXFUmPCvG5xQA:7 a=nX-cz1W5OVZVYRHPCcXCQxkVau8A:4 a=PuKaCD_GyroA:10 On 28 Aug, Dave Symes wrote: > Open !Menus in a text editor > Search for 36000 > That section contains the menu you are after. > As a test, modify the 36000 entry to 16000 and resave. > Run OvPro. It is even sucessful *without* quitting and restarting. That clearly indicates that your modifications are correct and working, but you have either modified the wrong file or your copy of OP runs another file after the one you modified, which overrides your changes. On a standard setup, the menu definitions come from !OvnPro.AutoRun.!Menus. If you edit some other !Menus file somewhere else on your system, say a backup in a different directory, or even inside a different copy of OP, then you get exactly the effect you describe: Re-running OP does not have any effect, but double-clicking the file changes the menus because doing so runs the file and makes its settings take effect irrespective of where the file is stored. Of course, the other scenario explains the symptoms you see just as well: If you have some other file that overrides your settings because it is run afterwards, then double-clicking your modified file ensures that it is run last and therefore makes its settings take effect. Probably a change of >> > the 14pt to 15pt would solve my problem. I think you've covered this topic between you. You can change all the menus in Ovation Pro they're defined in script files in the autorun and library folders. This is not quite as practical as intended because the code is complex and upgrades tend to clobber any changes you make. If you change !Menus and nothing happens, then it is likely you have another copy with a later name (alpha numerically speaking) like !Menus and !ZMenus (!ZM comes after !M), scripts in the auto run folder are executed in alpha numeric order. It is always better to use a style than an effect, and once you've defined 16pt as a style there are numerous ways you can apply it - keypresses etc. Finally I think there are some example macros for applying effects which you could copy and modify for setting this point size. Internally OP uses units of 1/720000'ths of an inch, given a point is 1/72 of an inch there are 1000 internal units per point - hence Dave S. comment about 16000. -- David Pilling email: david@pilling.demon.co.uk web: http://www.davidpilling.net post: David Pilling P.O.
